B.A.C. Custom Designs Trombone To Be Used In Super Bowl

As a brass player, it is always a thrill to see other brass musicians perform on a big stage in front of millions of people. Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder and many other pop artists constantly use backup brass to perform with them for some of the biggest events in music. February 4, 2018, Super Bowl LII, will be no different.

Justin Timberlake is scheduled to perform for this year’s halftime performance. Alongside him will be his band The Tennessee Kids. Trombonist Kevin Williams wanted to play on an instrument that was truly special for this event so he called one of the best custom designers in the business, Mike Corrigan of B.A.C (Best American Craftsman). Based in Kansas City, Corrigan has done custom work for many well-known brass players such as Trombone Shorty, Kameron Whalum (Bruno Mars), Aaron Goode (John Legend), Elliot Mason, Paul the Trombonist, and many others.

This horn features some really “out of the box” designs including a carbon fiber slide, the company initials “BAC” inside the bell (great marketing plug), and LED lighting built into the instrument (yes, you read that correctly). Check out the video below to see and hear the instrument, and be sure to tune into the halftime show of Super Bowl LII to see this incredible work of art put into action.
