Brian Bowman To Retire From North Texas

 

On September 26th, the College of Music at University of North Texas announced that Brian Bowman, Professor of Euphonium, will be retiring in May 2018. Having served at UNT for 18 years, Bowman’s name has been synonymous with ‘euphonium’ for over 40 years not only as a prolific teacher but also as a great performer. As a pioneer for the instrument, Bowman has performed in all 50 states, was the first euphonium player to give a recital in Carnegie Hall, was the first euphonium player to be President of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association, As an international soloist, Bowman blazed the trail for others by giving recitals and masterclasses in many countries including Japan and the Paris Conservatory in France.

Having been a member and soloist with the U.S Air Force and Navy Bands, many of his students now hold positions in premiere military bands and universities throughout the world. To read more about his great contributions to the world of music, click here to view his 20+ page of curriculum vitae.

Jeremy E. Smith is the Founder and Editor of Last Row Music. He received music degrees from Grace College, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Ohio State University. Currently, Jeremy is the bass trombonist of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, and performs throughout Ohio, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Smith is a member of the International Trombone Association and the Jazz Journalists Association.
