Earle Louder

Name: Earle Louder (1932)

Significance: Earle Louder is known as one of the great euphonium players throughout the world. Not only an impeccable performer but also a phenomenal teacher, Louder has soloed and recorded all throughout the world. While attending school at Michigan State University, Louder studied with the famous Leonard Falcone. Later on, he went to Florida State where he was the first recipient of a Doctor of Music in Euphonium Performance. Upon degree completion, Louder joined the U.S. Navy Band where he rose to international prominence as a soloist and was head of the brass department. After his 12-year stint with the Navy, Louder became a Professor of Music at Morehead State University in Kentucky. Now a Professor Emeritus at MSU, Louder continues to perform regularly with Keith Brion’s New Sousa Band and many other ensembles.
