Trombones in Ohio (Part 3)

For most of the country (NOT Ohio), spring time is here! That means that summer is not too far away and music festivals will be taking place all over the world. To continue this series of Trombones in Ohio, I would like to highlight two excellent summer workshops/seminars that take place in the Buckeye State.

Cleveland Trombone Seminar – June 6-14

For a few years now, Shachar Israel, Assistant Principal Trombone in the Cleveland Orchestra, has hosted the Cleveland Trombone Seminar at Cleveland State University. This week long event brings in world-renown faculty and artists to aid in developing the skills of aspiring trombonists. Lessons, masterclasses, and performances take place throughout the week as well as clinics that develop the full musician. Though the seminar is geared to college and post-college students, there are events for every trombonist, whether you are an amateur, educator, or high school student. If you would like to be a participant or associate participant (AUDITION IS REQUIRED), registration ends Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Topics such as audition preparation; solo and etude performance; performing under pressure; and others will be included in this five day event. Two featured activities include a mass trombone concert on the 25th as well as the opportunity for each participant to receive a 30 minute lesson from the workshop faculty. The last day to register for this workshop is May 1, 2015.
