Tuesdays on the Tube: Maniacal 4

This past weekend I headed two hours south to Athens, Ohio, and spent the entire day at Ohio University’s 2015 Trombone Day. This was my first time at the event, and I was extremely excited about the day’s activities. I will postpone my recap on the event for another post coming out later this week.

The guest artist for the event was the group Maniacal 4. This trombone quartet formed at the University of North Texas, and is very unique because you could almost consider them to be a rock trombone quartet. Their versatility as artists has taken them all over the world where they have performed for a wide range of audiences. You may have seen their well known video (over 1 million hits) of their version of “Carry on my Wayward Son.” Their first album (funded through Kickstarter) features some great 70s hits for trombone quartet and rhythm section.

As I mentioned before, stay tuned to the blog as I am working on another post regarding the entire event and all that is happening in the Ohio Trombone World! For now, enjoy this video of an original composition by their friend, Kevin Swaim.
