Tuesdays on the Tube: Ben van Dijk

In recent years, we have seen a rise in tech savvy musicians addings their twist to music recording. What is great about this trend is that the music and production seem to rise higher and higher on a daily basis. Today’s post is an example of that trend featuring the artistry of Ben van Dijk.

One of the top bass trombonists in the world, Ben has received many accolades for his playing whether in the orchestra, or in his solo recordings. Thanks to his contributions to teaching, performing and now YouTube-ing, others can follow in his footsteps.

Below is a video of Ben playing the devil-ishly difficult “Devil’s Waltz” by Steven Verhelst. This piece is a duet for tenor and bass trombone or two bass trombones. What is unique for the video is the visual editing involved (only done with GarageBand and iMovie). Even though this video is from two years ago, be sure to watch his more recent videos as well.
