Tuesdays on the Tube: Kurt Moll and Mozart

This past Sunday, March 5th, the operatic world lost one of the true greats in singing. Kurt Moll (1938-2017) was a German operatic bass singer known for his incredible voice and demeanor while performing certain roles. In preparing opera orchestra auditions, you will come across his name on opera recordings for Wagner, Mozart, Strauss, and many others.

The video below is from one of Mozart’s most famous arias, “O Isis and Osiris,” from the opera Die Zauberflöte. The entire aria features the trombone section and is asked on auditions.

Listen to this performance of Kurt Moll performing this great work.
