Southern Miss Brass Symposium

The Southern Miss Brass Symposium, hosted at The University of Southern Mississippi, is scheduled for April 17–18, 2026.
Open to middle school, high school, and university brass students, the symposium offers one-day or two-day registration and features:
Master classes and performances with Ryan Gardner (Professor of Trumpet, University of Colorado-Boulder), Shawn Hagen (Horn, U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” Retired), Douglas Yeo (ret. Bass Trombone, Boston Symphony), Gail Robertson (Euphonium, Symbiosis Duo), and Stacy Baker (Tuba, Symbiosis Duo)
Sessions on mindfulness, performance anxiety, historical brass, entrepreneurship, and audition preparation
Performance showcases, mass choir, and ensemble experiences
Vendor exhibits and networking opportunities
Group-friendly registration
Directors are encouraged to bring groups of students. Group attendance is ideal for:
Band classes and studios
Brass choirs and ensembles
Motivated individual students
Students may register individually, and directors are welcome to coordinate attendance for their programs.
