Tanaka Trumpet Concerto with the Montpellier Occitanie National Orchestra
First, Brahms’s Tragic Overture, composed in 1880: a somber and vehement work, like a condensed drama. Then, the Swedish trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger, with his exceptional career (more than 40 years pushing the boundaries of his instrument), will premiere Karen Tanaka’s Verse of Light in France. Tanaka, a Japanese composer trained in Paris under Tristan Murail and Luciano Berio, presents a concerto with a refined atmosphere, blending bursts of light with meditative moments. Finally, Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, the first of his glorious final triptych. The opening adagio unfolds with solemn grandeur, before a lively minuet and a sparkling finale. Three works, three distinct worlds: from stormy Romanticism to Classical grace, culminating in contemporary creation. An evening that combines tradition and audacity.
