About Jeremy

Jeremy E. Smith is a professional musician and brass educator based in Central Ohio. He completed his Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance at Carnegie Mellon University and received a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Performance from Grace College. His primary instructors were Peter Sullivan of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Jim Kraft, formerly of the National Symphony Orchestra. Additional studies have been with Denson Paul Pollard, John Kitzman, Graeme Mutchler, and Amanda Stewart.

As a performer, Jeremy is the bass trombonist for the Huntington Symphony Orchestra. In addition to playing with Huntington, he has performed with numerous ensembles including Orchestra Iowa, Opera Project Columbus, and the orchestras of Youngstown, Mansfield, New Albany, and Knox County. As a chamber musician, Jeremy traveled with Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass for a year and performed over 120 concerts across the country.

As an educator, Jeremy teaches trombone at Ohio Wesleyan University, low brass and brass chamber music at Kenyon College, and low brass and jazz band at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He has been fortunate to be a clinician/guest artist at Ohio University, Marshall University, Capital University, Indiana Wesleyan University, the North Carolina Trombone Festival, and many local high schools. An advocate for building better brass players, Jeremy is in demand as an online brass teacher with students ranging from 5th Grade to 76-years old all living across the United States.
