Tuesdays on the Tube: Chris Martin and Bugler’s Holiday

If you have watched any recent New York Philharmonic broadcasts, you may have noticed a new person in the driver’s seat for their trumpet section. Chris Martin has been on sabbatical from the Chicago Symphony due to recently winning the coveted Principal Trumpet position with New York.

With that new position comes many opportunities (obviously) of playing with the other stellar members of the brass section, including the New York Philharmonic Brass Quintet. At a recent event for the Hudson Valley Performing Arts Foundation, Martin and two other brass players were showcased in a rendition of Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday.

Though the other two musicians, Phil Myers and Joseph Alessi, are not on their primary instruments, it is still dazzling to see them performing on secondary instruments at a high level. The greater thing about this clip is the opportunity to see other highlights from their performance on this concert series (Thank you, YouTube).

Enjoy!
