A New Directory for the Brass Musician

Since 2014, Last Row Music has been an online hub for auditions, news, and links for the brass musician. LRM started out as a database of brass auditions links from all over the world. All of this has been built in order to create a hub of knowledge that is easily accessible to anyone, anytime – for free.

In 2016, LRM started becoming a source of information regarding upcoming brass performances as well as new hires in major orchestras and universities. By letting this action really expand our presence in the brass world, LRM has now grown to reach over 12,000 visitors a month, and the number continues to rise. Every now and then, some new feature takes place, whether it is reviewing books and recordings, or recently, creating a directory of Brass Repair Shops around the world. All of the writing, collecting, and organizing has been given to you as a free resource.

And it will continue that way.

But now, it is time to utilize technology and bring all brass players together in a collective group. While there are many organizations for specific brass instruments, it is difficult to find, let alone maintain, a worldwide directory that gives quick and easy access for anyone searching for brass players. Enter … the Brass Profiles.

Why charge for Brass Profiles? Couldn’t you just make it free like everything else on Last Row Music?

First, we want Brass Profiles and Last Row Music to be an ad-free website by not having some distraction in the sidebar. This membership fee allows LRM to continue improving and growing its value as a resource. Last Row Music is not a 501(c)(3) so the fee is not tax-deductible.

Second, the membership fee gives you an opportunity to be part of a growing, worldwide community that can’t be found anywhere else to this degree. It allows you to be promoted by Last Row Music, which in turn, gives you more exposure for opportunities. While we can’t guarantee a position in the Chicago Symphony, we can guarantee that if enough people search for you, they will quickly find you through Last Row Music.

Each new profile created will be featured on LRM’s social media pages as well as “The Weekly Sectional” newsletter.
