Getzen and Ian Bousfield Join Together For Tenor Trombone Competition

On December 22, 2020, the Getzen Company announced a collaboration with Ian Bousfield to form the first-ever Ian Bousfield International Tenor Trombone Solo Competition. Bousfield, a Getzen artist, is one of the great brass performers and pedagogues of our time, having held principal positions with the Vienna Philharmonic and London Symphony. He currently teaches at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern, Switzerland, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Prizes for this competition include a Getzen 4147IB Custom Reserve Trombone, trombone lessons with Bousfield, a gift certificate from Edwards Instruments, and an Ian Bousfield Mouthpiece. The deadline to enter this competition is March 15, 2021.

Jeremy E. Smith is the Founder and Editor of Last Row Music. He received music degrees from Grace College, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Ohio State University.
