Indiana University Names New Trumpet Professor

On April 1, 2020, the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music appointed Kevin Cobb as Professor of Music in Trumpet, pending approval by the Board of Trustees. This appointment will begin on August 1, 2020.

Kevin Cobb has been a member of the American Brass Quintet since 1998 and will be joining current trumpet faculty members Joey Tartell and John Rommel to round out the trumpet studio. In addition to performing with American Brass Quintet, Cobb has been performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and many other various artists and ensembles.

As an educator, Cobb has served on the music faculty at The Juilliard School, the Aspen Music Festival, Yale School of Music, and the SUNY Stony Brook. Click here to read the official press release and click here to read the announcement from the Indiana Daily Student.

 

Jeremy Smith

Jeremy E. Smith is the Founder and Editor of Last Row Music. He received music degrees from Grace College, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Ohio State University. Currently, Jeremy is the bass trombonist of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, and performs throughout Ohio, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Smith is a member of the International Trombone Association and the Jazz Journalists Association.
