Michael Sachs and The Cleveland Orchestra To Premiere Marsalis Trumpet Concerto

Coming off the world premiere of his tuba concerto, Wynton Marsalis is not taking a break in composing concertos. This time, the famed trumpeter/composer is writing for his own instrument.

On April 27, 2023, the Cleveland Orchestra will premiere Marsalis’ new trumpet concerto, written for Cleveland’s Principal Trumpet Michael Sachs. Conducted by Franz Wesler-Möst, the three-night performances will also feature Bohuslav Jan Martinů’s Second Symphony plus Antonin Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony.

Prior to this April 27 performance, this Concerto will be performed with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra.
