The New York Times Features 5 Minutes of Horn

On May 4, 2022, the New York Times published an article that shares five minutes-worth of French Horn music that will make you fall in love with the instrument. This longstanding series has featured the music from Wagner, Stravinsky, and instruments including the trumpet (yes… we’re waiting for trombone, tuba, AND euphonium).

Among those interviewed for their favorite selections, the following musicians gave their one piece of music that highlights the French Horn:

  • Sarah Willis (Horn, Berlin Philharmonic)
  • Akshaya Avril Tucker (Composer)
  • Paquito D’Rivera (Saxophonist and Composer)
  • Franz Welser-Möst (Conductor, Cleveland Orchestra)
  • Kevin Newton (Horn, Imani Winds)
  • Mei-Ann Chen (Conductor, Chicago Sinfonietta)
  • Bernard Labadie (Conductor, Orchestra of St. Luke’s)
  • Mark Almond (Horn, San Francisco Symphony)
