Brass Winners of the 2020 DownBeat Critics Poll

DownBeat Magazine has announced the winners of its 68th Annual DownBeat Critics Poll. With jazz drummer Terri Lyne Carrington becoming the first female instrumentalist to win the Jazz Artist of the Year category, the following brass artists won for their respective categories:

Trumpet: Ambrose Akinmusire

Trombone: Wycliffe Gordon

Rising Star–Trumpet: Jaimie Branch

Rising Star–Trombone: Nick Finzer
