Former Minnesota Orchestra Trombonist Dies At 87

Ron Ricketts, a former Second Trombonist of the Minnesota Orchestra, died from heart failure on June 28, 2020, at the age of 87. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Ricketts studied trombone at the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music. His sound can be heard on the 1957 recording Music for Brass which features the great jazz musicians Miles Davis and J.J. Johnson. He joined the Minnesota Orchestra in 1959 and would continue with the Orchestra until his retirement in 1996.  –  Star Tribune.
