Cleveland Orchestra Names New Principal Horn

After what seemed to be an eternity (but really was almost 5 years), the Cleveland Orchestra has named their new Principal Horn. Nathaniel Silberschlag, currently the Assistant Principal Horn for the Washington National Opera/Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, will begin his duties with Cleveland quite soon. At nineteen years of age, Silberschlag won his current position in December 2017 while studying horn with Julie Landsman at The Juilliard School. According to his profile on the KCOHO Musicians website, Silberschlag will be completing his Bachelor of Music degree in May of 2019.

With this major position filled, Cleveland’s brass section now only has remaining vacancies for Principal Trombone and Bass Trombone.

Congratulations to Nathaniel on winning this very prestigious position!
