Finzer To Join North Texas Jazz Faculty

 

Many brass positions at the University of North Texas are being filled these past few weeks with the announcement of their new Professor of Euphonium and incoming Professor of Horn Stacie Mickens. The Division of Jazz Studies has also announced that Nick Finzer, a well-known trombonist, composer, and arranger in the jazz world, will become the Assistant Professor of Jazz Trombone starting in the fall of 2018.

Nick has a handful of solo recordings out with his newest album, No Arrival, being released in April of 2018. In addition to being a performer, Nick currently teaches at Hunter College and has been a Visiting Professor at Florida State University. An advocate for technology and music, Nick hosts an educational YouTube channel and runs the jazz record label Outside in Music

Jeremy Smith

Jeremy E. Smith is the Founder and Editor of Last Row Music. He received music degrees from Grace College, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Ohio State University. Currently, Jeremy is the bass trombonist of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, and performs throughout Ohio, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Smith is a member of the International Trombone Association and the Jazz Journalists Association.
