Kansas City Tubist Retires After 36 Years

Since its inception in 1982, the Principal Tubist of the Kansas City has always been Steven Seward. After 36 years with the orchestra, Seward has retired from the well-known orchestra. Seward was a part of many changes with the group seeing it from a $10,000/year ensemble to a full-time, professionally respected symphony orchestra. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Seward has also taught at Truman State University since 1983. Click here to read more about the changes that were seen during his tenure as well as what he looks forward to during retirement.

Beginning in the fall of 2018, Joe LeFevre will occupy the seat of Principal Tuba with the orchestra.
