Ordman To Give Premiere of Trombone Concerto

The Lansing (MI) Symphony Orchestra has announced that as a part of their Masterwork series, Ava Ordman, Principal Trombone of the Lansing Symphony, will be performing the orchestral premiere of a concerto written by David Biedenbender. Both Ordman and Biedenbender are on the music faculty at Michigan State University.

The concerto – entitled Their Eyes are Fireflies – received its world premiere in March 2018 with the Michigan State University Wind Ensemble, and will be performed on the LSO Masterworks concert on November 15, 2018, at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts in East Lansing, Michigan. Also featured on this concert will be Brahms’ Symphony No. 3.

In addition to these premieres, Ordman was also the 2018 recipient of the Neill Humfeld Award for Excellence in Trombone Teaching from the International Trombone Association.
