Royal Concertgebouw Names New Principal Horn

In what seems to have been a long vacancy, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam has announced Katy Woolley as the winner of the Principal Horn audition. Katy Woolley has been a rising, global horn star. At the age of 22, Katy won the Principal Horn position with the Philharmonia Orchestra – after she had played Third Horn in the orchestra while still a student.

Katy began playing horn at the age of 10. Her teachers include Sue Dent, Simon Rayner, and later spent two years in Berlin studying with Christian-Friedrich Dallmann in Berlin. Currently, she is the Professor of Horn at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Congratulations to Katy on this prestigious position!
