The 46th Anniversary of TUBACHRISTMAS

It’s that time of year.

Where large-to-oversize metal objects converge on various locations around the world and join together to make bodies, chairs, auditoriums, mall plazas, and concert halls vibrate by way of low frequencies.

Yes, people. Another season of TUBACHRISTMAS is here at last.

Started in 1974, the great tuba legend Harvey Phillips wanted to honor his teacher and mentor, William Bell – ironically, born on Christmas Day – by having an event to celebrate the instrument and the season. 46 years later, the event has become almost a cult following with over 300 events scheduled in all 50 states and 6 international locations. Whether you want to purchase your red, plastic tuba and head to Alaska or enjoy the richer, warmer weather of Costa Rica, only a “few” extra dollars can take you and your instrument to a great destination and play until your heart is content – or until your lip falls off.

If you show up to the right one (you can always choose more than one), you just might be a part of a new Guinness World Record. And don’t worry trombone players, you too can participate in the fun with finding or starting your own local Trombone Christmas.
