Three Open Horn Positions in the Berlin Philharmonic

With a mammoth orchestra such as the Berlin Philharmonic, it is understood why you would need so many musicians. Especially in the winds and brass, this orchestra plays so much of the large symphonic works that positions need to be doubled up.

Recently, it was announced that David Cooper, winner of the highly coveted Principal Horn position in 2016, will be returning to the US after a short stint with the orchestra. This now leaves Berlin with three open positions in the horn section.
