University of Cincinnati Announces Opening In Fellowship Brass Quintet

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music anticipates an opening for a Graduate Assistantship in the Fellowship Brass Quintet. This is a two-year position for Tenor Trombone applicants to the MM, AD, or DMA programs. Duties include regular rehearsals and performances with the Fellowship Brass Quintet as well as coaching younger groups at CCM.

The initial application deadline is December 1st, 2021. Extensions are possible on a case-by-case basis.

  • The GA in the Brass Quintet includes:
  • GAS tuition scholarship which covers 100% of Instructional Fees and Non-resident Surcharges
    • $24,966 out-of-state
    • $13,744 METRO
    • $13,244 in-state
  • UGA appointment
    • 15 hours weekly/30 weeks
    • $8,000 annually

Also included is GHSI health insurance remission of $1,652 annually, bringing the University Insurance plan cost to $708.

Jeremy E. Smith is the Founder and Editor of Last Row Music. He received music degrees from Grace College, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Ohio State University. Currently, Jeremy is the bass trombonist of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and performs throughout Ohio, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Smith is a member of the International Trombone Association and the Jazz Journalists Association.
