New Orleans Musician Starts Trumpet-For-Your-Gun Exchange Program

To remove guns out of the hands of kids, New Orleans trumpeter Shamarr Allen has started a program called Trumpet Is My Weapon which allows for kids to exchange their gun for a trumpet. No questions asked. Allen then turns the gun into the police. “Allen said that for the program to work, the police couldn’t ask him any questions about who gave him the guns — and he wouldn’t ask the kids any questions either.” A donation page has been created to raised funds for supplies and instruments. So far, $26,000 has been given to the cause. –  Read more at NPR.
