Trombonist Starts “Play The Missing Part” Video Series

Brian Johnston is the Second Trombonist for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and recently, the orchestra was put on furlough due to COVID-19. As this left many of its musicians stranded for work and income, Brian, a Brass Profiles member, started a video project which involves playing all of the low brass parts and then taking out one of the parts for musicians to play along. A unique feature in this project is Brian has created two videos: one of the entire excerpt and one where a part is missing from the excerpt. This allows the listener to join Brian and play the missing part instead of trying to play over a specific part.

Brian has collaborated with tubists Kevin LaRose, Akshat Jain, Jarrett McCourt, and Brad Geneser for the project. As of July 27, 2020, a few of the excerpts include:

Be sure to subscribe to Brian’s channel for future videos, and if you find value in this project, consider contributing to his GoFundMe or his Patreon pages.
