Jörgen Van Rijen To Give Multiple Performances of Dessner Trombone Concerto

In the newest edition of trombone concertos, Jörgen van Rijen will be traveling throughout Europe and the U.S. to perform an exciting work written by Bryce Dessner, a Grammy Award-winning classical composer and a member of the rock band, The National.

The commissioning of this trombone concerto is a joint collaboration with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Orchester Philharmonique Royal de Liège and Orchester National d’Île-de-France.

Jörgen van Rijen is no stranger to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as he gave the U.S. premiere of James MacMillan’s trombone concerto in 2018. For the time being, the Dallas Symphony will be only offering tickets to subscribers and has set in place certain protocols for these live events. Other venues and performances have similar protocols for their concerts. All events are subject to change, and we will try to monitor any updates regarding these performances.
